At the Digital Transformation Summit in Madeira (15 April 2026), the workshop “Digital solutions and innovations enabling healthier, safer and more resilient waters and oceans” brought together EU projects working at the intersection of digital innovation and environmental protection.
Moderated by Oriane Georges (F6S Innovation), the session featured Restore4Life, EFFECTIVE, AUTOASSESS, REMEDIES, iMERMAID EU, TASC RestoreMed, and ADT4Blue, showcasing practical solutions already emerging across Europe.
Key discussions focused on how digital tools are being used in practice, including AI for marine litter detection, real-time ecosystem monitoring, and technologies supporting wetland and water system restoration.
The interactive panel addressed shared challenges such as data interoperability, digital skills, and scaling innovation from research to deployment, with contributions from Samuel Almeida, Iwa Stefanik, Vukasin Orsic, Serena Laschi, Annamaria Vujanović, and Pedro Roseiro.
The workshop highlighted a clear direction: digital technologies are ready to support water resilience, but impact depends on collaboration, integration, and real-world uptake across sectors.
